What We Are
R2R Desai Textile is a textile-focused organization committed to sustainable practices and responsible resource management within the textile industry. With strong industry expertise, the company works towards reducing textile waste and improving efficiency across the value chain.
It plays a key role in driving innovation in textile recovery, reuse, and recycling, ensuring that unused fabrics and production waste are redirected into meaningful use instead of being discarded.
Beyond operations, R2R Desai Textile is dedicated to environmental responsibility and social impact, supporting initiatives that promote circular economy practices and create livelihood opportunities.
Through its efforts, the organization aims to reshape how the textile industry views waste—transforming it into a valuable resource while contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.
Why We Exist
The textile industry generates massive amounts of waste, much of which ends up in landfills or is burned—causing serious environmental damage. Despite its value, textile waste is often ignored due to the lack of structured systems for collection, segregation, and recycling.
We exist to change that.
Project RECOVER was created to address this gap by building an organized, sustainable solution for textile waste management. We aim to reduce environmental harm, recover valuable materials, and ensure that textiles are reused, restored, or responsibly processed instead of being wasted.
At the same time, we exist to create dignified livelihood opportunities for women and informal workers who are often underpaid and unrecognized in the waste ecosystem.
Our purpose is simple:
To transform textile waste into opportunity—for the environment, for communities, and for a more sustainable future.
What We Do
At Project RECOVER, we create a structured system to manage textile waste sustainably—from collection to reuse.
We collect unused clothes and textile waste through donation drives, collection centres, and partnerships with institutions and manufacturers.
These materials are then sorted and segregated into reusable, repairable, recyclable, and non-recyclable categories.
Reusable clothes are redistributed or resold, while damaged textiles are repaired, upcycled, or downcycled into new products.
Unusable fabrics are processed for recycling into raw materials for further use.
At the core of our work, we engage and train women and informal workers, creating dignified livelihood opportunities through sorting, processing, and value addition.
Through this end-to-end approach, we ensure that textile waste is not discarded—but recovered, restored, and reintroduced into the circular economy.
